Zavus Display Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How are display capacities determined?

A: Displays are rated based on an a spacing that is full but not too crowded for average sized medals, around 3.00 (75mm). For example, it is possible to fit 6 medals on a bar that is rated for 5, especially if the medals are somewhat small. The guidelines are given to make selecting displays easier, but squeezing more on a row is possible.

Q: What is the largest medal size?

A: The hanger does not really have a size limitation, but medal size does impact the display. A typical medal size is around Ø3.00 (75mm), and is a size that will permit full display capacity.

The maximum size for standing display is Ø4.75 (120mm). Any larger and the medal will contact the supporting surface. Sizes larger than Ø4.00 (100mm) will likely decrease the amount that will fit on the display.

Although Wall displays don’t really have a direct size limitation, medals larger than Ø4.00 (100mm) will likely decrease the amount that will fit on a row. Medals at Ø4.75 (120mm) or larger could limit the bility to hang medals on the row below. On strategy is to place larger medals on the bottom row, or stagger the positions on the row below.

Q: I have an idea for a display not currently offered, do you do custom work?

A: Some customizations are possible. Please reach out with your idea and we’ll help determine next steps.

Q: The largest display available is 25 but I have more than that. Why aren’t there larger displays available?

A: The main reason for not having larger displays is that it can be difficult to make them look good. Too many medals on one giant display can be visually overwhelming. For larger collections it’s better to consider using multiple smaller displays. A secondary reason is it helps keep shipping costs and damage low.

Q: Is there a story behind the name Zavus?

A: It started with the Finish word for achievement which is Saavutus. After some tinkering to reduce syllables etc., Zavus was conceived. It turned out that Zavus also means beautiful/ravishing in Lithuanian. This dual meaning of making an achievement look beautiful is very fitting.
